International Shipping & Export Policy

Tank Supply Direct currently sells and ships products within the United States only. We do not directly arrange international freight, customs clearance, or delivery outside of the U.S.

Customers who wish to export their order outside of the United States must arrange and hire their own freight forwarder.

Customer-Arranged Export Shipments

If you are exporting your order, you are responsible for selecting, hiring, and coordinating with your own freight forwarder. Once your freight forwarder is hired, the shipment is considered a routed export transaction.

In a routed export transaction, your freight forwarder is responsible for filing the required Electronic Export Information, also known as EEI, with U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Tank Supply Direct does not file EEI on behalf of the customer.

EEI Letter of Authorization

The customer is responsible for completing and signing the EEI Letter of Authorization required by their freight forwarder. This document authorizes the freight forwarder to file export paperwork on the customer’s behalf.

Tank Supply Direct cannot complete or sign the EEI Letter of Authorization for the customer.

Exporter of Record

Because the customer is hiring the freight forwarder, the customer and their freight forwarder are responsible for the export transaction. Tank Supply Direct cannot act as the exporter of record for customer-arranged international shipments.

If the customer is located outside of the United States, the customer is considered the Foreign Principal Party in Interest, also known as FPPI. The FPPI is still responsible for completing and signing the EEI Letter of Authorization for their chosen freight forwarder.

Documents We Can Provide

Tank Supply Direct can provide standard shipment and order documentation needed by your freight forwarder, including:

  • Commercial or proforma invoice
  • Shipper name and address
  • Consignee name and address
  • Product description and SKU
  • Quantity and value of goods

If your freight forwarder requires additional documentation, such as a Certificate of Origin or other export-related paperwork, please request this in advance. Some documents may require additional processing time.

Shipping to a U.S.-Based Freight Forwarder

Tank Supply Direct can ship your order directly to your U.S.-based freight forwarder’s warehouse or facility.

The customer must provide the freight forwarder’s full shipping address, contact name, phone number, and any required receiving instructions at the time of order.

Once the order is delivered to the freight forwarder, the freight forwarder assumes responsibility for the shipment and export process.

Customs Brokers, Duties, Taxes, and Import Fees

All export-related costs are the responsibility of the customer. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Freight forwarding charges
  • Customs clearance fees
  • Brokerage fees
  • Duties
  • Taxes
  • Import fees
  • Storage charges
  • Port fees
  • Any additional destination-country charges

For shipments going to Mexico or Canada, the customer will need to hire a licensed customs broker to clear the shipment at the border. Many freight forwarders can recommend or provide brokerage services, but all customs clearance costs remain the customer’s responsibility.

For all other international destinations, customs clearance must be handled by a licensed customs broker or by the freight forwarder’s international agent. Tank Supply Direct is not responsible for customs clearance in the destination country.

Export Packaging

Products are shipped using standard domestic packaging unless otherwise stated.

If your freight forwarder requires special export packaging, such as heat-treated pallets, fumigation certificates, crating, blocking, bracing, or additional packaging requirements, the customer must arrange this directly with their freight forwarder.

Any additional packaging, handling, or documentation costs are the customer’s responsibility.

Delays, Denials, or Filing Issues

If your freight forwarder fails to file the required export documents, files incomplete information, or provides incorrect export paperwork, the shipment may be delayed, denied, held, or refused at the port of export.

Tank Supply Direct is not responsible for delays, penalties, storage charges, fines, customs holds, or denied shipments caused by incomplete, inaccurate, or missing export filings.

Customer Responsibility

By placing an order intended for export, the customer agrees that they are responsible for all export arrangements after the order is delivered to their chosen U.S.-based freight forwarder.

Tank Supply Direct will provide reasonable documentation to support the transaction, but the customer and their freight forwarder are responsible for export filing, customs clearance, international freight, duties, taxes, and final delivery outside the United States.
