Description

The Texas Metal Tanks PVC inlet or overflow fitting is a Schedule 40 PVC slip fitting installed in the sidewall of a Texas Metal Tanks cistern, near the top. Use it as a pipe inlet from your gutter downspout or as an overflow that carries excess water away from the tank. It is offered in 3″ and 4″ sizes and is ordered together with your tank, where it is installed at the factory.

Texas Metal Tanks recommends matching the overflow size to the inlet size so water moves through the system easily. A tank of 1,000 gallons or less usually collects from one downspout, where a 3″ inlet is typically fine; with 6″ gutters, or several downspouts piped together, go to 4″.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which size should I choose?
Match the inlet and overflow sizes. A 3″ inlet is typically fine for one downspout on a tank of 1,000 gallons or less; choose 4″ for 6″ gutters or several downspouts piped together.

Where can it go on the tank?
Inlets and overflows go at 3:00, 9:00 or 12:00. The Texas Metal Tanks logo is at 6:00. Generally, do not put the overflow above the outlet.

Is an overflow already included with my tank?
Rainwater (RW) cisterns include a PVC overflow and a basket inlet. Water storage (WS) cisterns do not include an inlet or overflow, so add them here.

How long does it take to ship, and where does it ship from?
It is installed in your Texas Metal Tanks cistern, which has a 5-8 week manufacture lead time and ships from Texas.

Who makes it?
Texas Metal Tanks (part numbers TMT-PVC-3 and TMT-PVC-4).
